Welcome to SHARP Records & Plans

SHARP Records & Plans is a specialist care planning documentation system for care homes for older people, covering over 50 specialist areas of care recording. It's been in use with our care home clients for over 10 years.

We also provide training & consultancy services to the care home sector and domiciliary care sector, specialising in the care of older people.

We run courses and provide training on specialist subjects such as Advance Care Planning, Mental Capacity Act 2005 & Person Centred Care Planning and other specialist courses.  We can work with your home or organisation with consultancy advice and support.

If you are large corporate care provider with many homes and you are considering replacing your current system,  we can provide our care planning system fully branded with your company logo and support your training team with a comprehensive training package - a very cost effective solution, rather than building your own.

Alternatively,  we provide you with un-biased independent advice about suitable care planning systems for your group of homes and help you choose one that best fits your needs.

Implementation of the new Health and Social Care Act 2008

Homes registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 will be required to re-register under this new legislation and if you are a manager or provider you will need to confirm that your care home complies with the ‘Essential standards of quality and safety’, as set out by Care Quality Commission (CQC). You will want to be assured that the care records for each individual can meet the relevant standards. We have reviewed the SHARP system and can confirm that, when used appropriately, SHARP can meet these standards.

There is much focus in the standards about involving people in planning their care and consenting to care. Again, appropriate use of SHARP can demonstrate this.  SHARP enables a person-centred approach to care. The regular training we provide focuses on this approach.

Where a person lacks the mental capacity to be involved, demonstrating compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is essential. Appropriate use of SHARP can demonstrate this, by the use of a specially designed document.

Keeping SHARP 'fit for purpose'

At SHARP we convene a Focus Group each year where we invite feedback about SHARP to keep it ‘fit for purpose’ and ‘user-friendly’.

Over the last year most SHARP documents have been improved and at least 9 new documents have been devised, either as a result of feedback from the Focus Group or as a result of new guidance and legislation.  So SHARP will continue to evolve to meet the needs of our ever-changing sector.
