...the cutting edge of care planning
Overview

What are the necessary components for high quality care in a Care Home?

Research has shown the ingredients are:

  • Relevant knowledge by care staff
  • Competent practical skills
  • A written careplan record to show that high quality care has been given

The UK National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People (NMS) 2001 sets out how the service user plan should be set up and reviewed. That's where SHARP Record & Plans for Care Homes come in. It gives you all the necessary training and user-friendly careplans to form the basis of a high quality care records system.

The cost? Once set up, the maintenance cost is less than 38 pence per registered bed per week!

SHARP Records & Plans is at present available to Care Homes in Somerset, Dorset & Devon. We are considering making it available in areas in the UK if there is a sufficient interest. If you are interested, register with us and we will discuss future availability in your area. SHARP Records & Plans is a care planning and documentation system for use in care homes for older people. It was researched and designed in care homes, for care homes. It has been used successfully since 2001, with the number of participating homes increasingly each year, now totalling 25.

SHARP Records & Plans has prompts to help you comply with the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People and is suitable for use in homes for nursing and for personal care, for those with physical and those with mental frailty.

The SHARP Records & Plans philosophy is that the record of care is the essential last stage in the caring process - it is not an "added extra".

Of course, your staff need to have the knowledge and skills to care, but then they need to be able to plan the care and record, in a clear and concise document, what they have done and why.

So, we only implement the SHARP Records & Plans system in care homes along with a substantial educational and training package designed to help care staff understand the need for high quality records and how to maintain them.
